It is an incredibly useful tool for collaborarive writing, pooling knowledge or exchanging ideas, especially on a subject that changes or needs updating frequently. I'd gone over some library wikis, such as SJCPL Subject Guides, Library 2.0 in 15 Minutes a Day, Book Lovers Wiki, Library Success: A best practices wiki, The Bull Run Library wiki, and Merlin Wiki Learning link. I like SJCPL and Book Lovers wiki the most. I also like Readers'Advisory from Library Success: A Best Practices wiki.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-33223861734004332292010-04-09T12:19:00.000-07:002010-04-09T12:57:03.333-07:00Week 6 Thing 15I read all of the 5 perspectives on Library 2.0 from the discovery list.
"Away from the Icebergs" By Rick Anderson. He pointed out that there are icebergs front of us threat to our future success. First, the "just in case" collection, as a Web 2.0 reality continues to emerge and develop, our patrons will expect access to everything--digital collections of journals, books, blogs, oldcasts, etc. Second, Reliance on user education, we need focus our efforts not on teaching research skills but on eliminating the barriers that exist between patrons and th information they need. If our services can't be used without training, then it's the services that need to be fixed--not our patrons. One-button commands, such as Flickr's, "Blog This", and easy -to-use programs like Google page Creator, offer promising models for this kind of user-centric service. Third, the "come to us" model of library service, in the post-point era, we have to be a bit more humble in the current environment, and find new ways to bring our services to patrons rather than insisting that they come to us. This means placing library services and content in the user's preferred environment, i.e., the web; even better, it means integrating our services into their dailly patterns of work, study and play.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-67538386497799475782010-04-09T11:50:00.000-07:002010-04-09T11:52:01.653-07:00Week 8 Thing 18Date: 03-12-10

Preschool Storytime Planner

Welcome song: So Good to See You
Fingerplay: Open, Shut Them
Here is My Book
Story/Flannelboard: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
By Bill Martin / Eric Carle
Fingerplay/Song: Where is Thumbkin?
Story: Little Robin Redbreast/
Mother Goose Rhyme
Rhyme/Flannelboard: Five Umbrellas
Song/Stretch: Roll, Roll, Roll Your Hands
Story/Lap theater: The Carrot Seed / Ruth Krauss
Rhyme/Flannelboard: Five Little Kites
Stretch/Song: Head and Shoulders
Closing Song: The More We Get Together
Craft Activity: Shamrock Paper Craft

I'd explored this web-based word processing tool which is Zoho Writer. I read the Maryland Library Learning 2.0 program blog. I got a concept that this program that encourages us to learn more about emerging technologies on the web that are changing the way people, society and libraries access information and communicate with each other.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-1043978064900904372010-04-09T06:13:00.000-07:002010-04-09T06:25:44.904-07:00Week 9 Thing 23I feel so happy and proud that I completed the program. It was a very good experience. I always like the self-paced way to do learning. I found that all of this 23 things are useful. Some gives us new concepts about new technologies. Some gives us real practice about those new tech. It is not only helpful in our career, but also enriched our daily life. To me, life long learning is my goal. So, I would say, "This is not an end, it is just the begining."sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-61261930305417875122010-04-08T08:34:00.000-07:002010-04-08T08:52:38.396-07:00Week 9 Thing 22I created an account at NetLibrary through our Montgomery Library's website, then I tried several titles I could find on it. I also went over Project Gutenbery which I found several ebooks that I've read. I like it very much that we can read books online, listen to books or music online, even more, we can transfer them to portable devices, such as ipod, mp3 or iphone. It is so amazing. The hardest part is to get the software installed on the computer, and some are not free for download. I will encourage our customers about using this technology.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-15114083258965944512010-03-31T16:27:00.000-07:002010-03-31T16:33:34.054-07:00Week 9 Thing 21I found a podcast from podcast directories and added the RSS feed to the bloglines account. I went through several podcast directories and found some tools are very useful and interesting. The Beginner's guide to procasts and podcasting is very useful to get the concept of podcast and to know how to create a basic podcast of our own.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-68299299259612466052010-03-31T14:37:00.000-07:002010-03-31T14:54:22.113-07:00Week 9 Thing 20--exercise 2YouTube is a video sharing website on which users can uplord and share videos. Because it it a free site we will find a lot stuff not worth watching, on the other hand there are so many good things you could search for. Such as Storytime for Children, Library Storytime, Children Song, Picture books for children, etc. Those videos can give us a lot good ideas to prepare our own storytime.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-48023270168983438762010-03-31T13:58:00.000-07:002010-03-31T14:37:22.400-07:00Week 9 Thing 20--exercise 1I think this is worth to add in my blog.
Joshua Bell plays Beethoven (2/5), violin concerto-1 in Japan.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7mlCf1b1X0sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-39813657745610751742010-03-29T16:42:00.000-07:002010-03-29T16:48:54.419-07:00Week 8 Thing 19I have viewed the sites of Web 2.0 Awards nominees. From Award Categories I select News and Blog Guides to explore. Just as I would expected the first place is Google Blog Search which is the most popular blog search in the whole world. The second place is Bloglines which for searching and sharing news feeds, blog content and create a personalized news page. The third place is Technorati which to find new blogs to read and list of top blogs. I also explored the bookmarking, books and food.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-84525705315128488852010-03-26T10:55:00.000-07:002010-03-26T11:10:07.048-07:00Week 7 Thing 17I tried to access the Maryland Libraries Sandbox and create a login account for myself but I couldn't sign in. Otherwise I might be able to add my blog to the Favorite Blog page; add a favorite or two to a few other pages, such as a favorite book, favorite wikis. I also tried to view PBWiki Tour. PBWiki, Video Gallery, for some reason those pages were not found. Luckly I was able to view PBWiki Tips-A wiki site map.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-73141299107678723872010-03-22T15:32:00.000-07:002010-03-22T15:40:30.054-07:00Week 6 Thing 14Technorari is an Internet search engine for searching blogs. It was indexing millions blogs and tagged social media.
Technorati looks at tags that authors have placed on their websites. These tags help categorize search results, with recent results coming first. Technorati rates each blog's "authority", the number of unique blogs linking to the blog over the previous six months.
We can search for keywords in blog posts, search for entire blog posts that have been tagged with certain keyword, or search for blogs that have been registered and tagged as whole blogs about a certain subject. It is amazing.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-12781782042404734092010-03-22T15:14:00.000-07:002010-03-22T15:28:52.475-07:00Week 6 Thing 13Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to share, organize, search and manage bookmarks of web resources. Delicious is a social bookmarking web service for storing, sharing, and discovering web bookmarks. We can get to our bookmarks from anywhere. We can share our bookmarks publicly. So our friends, coworkers, and other people can view them for reference, amusement, collaboration, or anything else. We can find other people on Delicious who have interesting bookmarks and add their links to our own collections, or anything else. Everyone on Delicious chooses to save their bookmarks for a rreason. We have access to the links that everyone wants to remember. We can see whether two people have chosen to remember a link, or whether it was useful enough for a thousand people to remember--which may help us find things that are useful for us, too.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-3744194036484714382010-03-22T15:04:00.000-07:002010-03-22T15:13:18.511-07:00Week 5 Thing 12I have explored Rollyo and created an account for myself. I also have created a Searchroll. It is very simple, all I have to do is find and enter the urls of a site or sites of that forcus on the topic. Of course, I can edit and modify my Searchroll at any time. Rolly allows us to create our own search tool for the just the websites we know and trust. Even better, we can share our Searchrolls with friends and colleagues. A tool like this has a strong future in both the workplace and in schools.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-31376476744444183372010-03-22T14:48:00.000-07:002010-03-22T14:57:13.060-07:00Week 5 Thing 11I have created an online catalog of my own. I had add seveal favorate books to my library by just entering the title. When I click "Your Books" I can even view my books on a virtual shelf. It is very interesting. It is also very useful for my job in the future. It will help to do the reader's advisory.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-38256543882610049352010-03-22T14:29:00.000-07:002010-03-22T14:35:38.009-07:00Week 4 Thing 9On web pages, web feeds are typically linked with the word"Subscribe" or with the web feed logo, icons.
The easiest method to find the feeds is when there is a feed logo to click on. I found Topix.net is very easy to locate recent newsfeed items by keyword or phrase searching. I like Technorati as well. RSS and Newsreaders are very useful for reader's advisory.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-82743899450793705872010-03-22T14:20:00.000-07:002010-03-22T14:48:03.088-07:00Week 4 Thing 8I have created a Bloglines account and subscribe several newsfeeds. Bloglines is a web-based news aggregator for reading syndicated feeds using the RSS and Atom formats.
"Feed-icon" or the "RSS-icon" indicate a web feed was present on a particular web page that could be used in conjunction with the live bookmarks function.
Web syndication is a form of syndication in which wesite material is made avalable to mutiple other sites.
I could visit all those information sources and web pages in just one place and all at the same time, it saves me a lot of time visiting each site imdividually.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-42704664422480077892009-09-25T07:51:00.000-07:002010-03-22T16:14:38.224-07:00Week 5 thing 10

This is from Word Mosaic. Even more, I learned how to download pictures to a CD which used as a gift to send to my friends.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-18417093683723263942009-09-10T11:16:00.000-07:002009-09-10T11:21:31.761-07:00Week 3 Thing 6I like the trip planner site. It gives me a lot of ideas for my next trip to Florence, Italy. The experiences from others can always help us find different way to explore the cities, to try different foods or to find hotels with good deals. I bet that this site will make our trip easier.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-48985348980316756512009-09-10T11:04:00.000-07:002009-09-10T11:13:17.370-07:00Week 1 Thing 2As Mahatma Gandhi once said, " Live as if you were to die tomorrow, Learn as if you were to live forever." This reminds us learning is for life, not just for school, college or for the duration of a course. Havit 3---to view problems as challenges is the most difficult thing for me. I work very hard to not let any difficulties or any failures stop me from going on. Even I often learn from mistakes. Habit 5---create your own learning toolbox is the easiest thing to me. When I try to do or learn something I will use any learning tools I could find, especially using web pages.sparklinghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02664553148491144695noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2233912636722205126.post-34407333916762015002009-08-14T07:29:00.000-07:002009-08-14T07:37:00.896-07:00week 3 thing 5 continued

This photo I uploaded from my digital camera.
